Our Values

The organization's values are based on specific principles, approaches and behaviours that are respected and recognized within its environment.

In, 1998, the following values were adopted during the annual general assembly:

  • Young adults are at the heart of our concerns;
  • Use of a community-centered approach;
  • Building partnerships with organizations in the field;
  • Fostering team spirit;
  • Work based on active local participation.

Young adults are at the heart of our concerns

Youth are the main concern among CJE members. The RCJEQ directs its mission to support interventions concerning its members. The first actionable goal of the RCJEQ is to develop the personal autonomy, social, economic and professional abilities of young adults.

Community-Centered Approach

The community-centered approach among every CJE is based on promoting and respecting the following principles, within their communities:

  • Democracy
  • Active citizenship
  • Empowerment
  • Solidarity
  • Social Justice
  • Respecting the individual
  • Partnerships and collaboration with communities
  • Complimentary actions with other organizations
  • Volunteering
  • Self-determination based on their respective environment

At the RCJEQ, our community approach translates as:

  • Respecting members local autonomy, allowing them to choose and define their guidelines and administrative structures;
  • Respecting the differences between each region;
  • Promoting and respecting democracy, active citizenship, empowerment, solidarity and social justice.

Partnerships

The RCJEQ collaborates with various national actors who share similar goals. Partner expertise and contributions are adopted and exchanged to help further common objectives.

Participation

The RCJEQ favours and encourages its members to participate actively in making decisions democratically.

Open and Clear Communication

The guidelines and actions at the RCJEQ arise by including its members in discussions and decision making processes. The decisions made come from having access to clear information and effective communication. The RCJEQs main priority is to be attentive to its member's needs; thereby working from the collective concerns of all its members.

Support Service

The RCJEQ values team spirit, cooperation and mutual aid. They favour team work and solidarity, specifically among its members.

Equality

The RCJEQ treats all its members equally without favouring any member in delivering its services and in making decisions. This value applies to answering the collective needs of its members while taking into consideration and responding to the more particular needs of certain members.
